Work Experience:
Every year the number of patients treated in the department under her supervision is about 5000, of which more than 3500 patients undergo various surgical interventions. Under the supervision of E. N. Kaukhova, the number of laparoscopic incisions has significantly decreased and amounts to no more than 200 interventions per year, since from the beginning of the department’s work she has widely introduced laparoscopic operations, the number of which increases annually and amounts to more than 1000 per year, which allows to reduce the patient’s stay in hospital by three times, and also significantly ease the postoperative period and restore working capacity in the shortest possible time. Currently, the main focus of E. N. Kaukhova’s operational activities is organ-preserving operations. During the year, under her supervision, the following is performed: • more than 300 resections of myomatous nodes using hysteroscopic access; • more than 100 myomectomies using laparoscopic and open approaches, which allows women to preserve not only menstrual, but also reproductive functions; • more than 100 selective uterine artery embolizations not only for patients with uterine fibroids, but also for cancer patients admitted with bleeding for whom UAE is the only method of stopping bleeding and saving life; • more than 300 operations on patients with genital prolapse and stress urinary incontinence using various mesh implants, which significantly improves long-term treatment results, reduces the risk of prolapse recurrence and dramatically improves the quality of life of patients. With great success, robot-assisted surgeries were introduced into practice in the department under her leadership, allowing for precise work with tissues and performing unique organ-preserving operations on the pelvic organs. A third of all patients operated on by E. N. Kaukhova are older patients with severe extragenital pathology, who undergo successful surgical interventions, which allows them to prolong their active longevity. Under her leadership, various treatment methods for benign cervical diseases (cryotherapy, laser therapy, radiofrequency ablation of the cervix) were introduced into practice, as well as the use of various energy sources in laparoscopic surgeries to preserve ovarian reserve. Algorithms for the examination and dynamic monitoring of patients with benign cervical diseases were developed.
