Endoscopic laser-assisted stapedotomy is a sparing ear surgery to replace the fixed stapes bone with a prosthesis through a microincision and using a camera (endoscope) and laser, improving hearing. The procedure is indicated for otosclerosis, a condition when abnormal bone growth occurs, fixing the base of stapes and leading to progressive hearing loss. The endoscope provides excellent visualization of deep structures through natural pathways, while the laser allows for non-contact, atraumatic removal of scar tissue and creates an opening for the prosthesis. The surgery eliminates tinnitus and restores the ability to hear soft sounds.
