Surgical management of destructive osteomyelitis of the ribs, sternum, and clavicle (without VAC) is a surgical procedure performed to remove bone necrosis in the chest wall, thus eliminating a chronic infection and preventing its further spread. The surgery is recommended for destructive osteomyelitis with necrosis of the sternum, ribs, or clavicles with inflammation, fistula formation, and systemic infection. During the procedure, the affected tissues and purulent areas are removed, and wound debridement is carried out. The outcome is elimination of the chronic infection source, closure of fistulas, cessation of purulent discharge, pain decrease, and tissue restoration.
