Nephritis is a group of inflammatory kidney diseases that affect the renal glomeruli, tubules, or interstitial tissue, leading to impaired blood filtration and urinary excretion. Diagnosis includes urinalysis, assessment of kidney function based on creatinine and glomerular filtration levels, ultrasound examination, and, in some cases, kidney biopsy. Treatment strategy depends on the disease: for glomerulonephritis, immunosuppressive drugs are used; for pyelonephritis, antibiotics and treatment of urinary retention are required; for interstitial nephritis, medication withdrawal is necessary.
