Scientific and Practical Center of Specialized Medical Care for Children named after V.F. Voyno-Yasenetsky is a multidisciplinary center specializing in the treatment and follow-up care of children with severe congenital and acquired disorders, from the first hours of life up to age 18. The center provides medical care to children across more than 50 specialties.
Description
The schools of neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, ophthalmology, maxillofacial surgery, otorhinolaryngology, urology, and rehabilitative medicine represent the Center of Specialized Medical Care for Children. Today, the Center covers 12 medical specialties, applying unique treatment methods. It has the most cutting-edge equipment — the latest instruments and medical devices — for highly complex operations, often for the first time in Russia.
The center's research potential is reflected in the active participation of its specialists in research, in the most respected international and national scientific conferences, in hosting its own research and practice conference with international participation, and in publishing authoritative monographs and the medical journals Quantum Satis and the Russian Bulletin of Perinatology and Pediatrics.
Special attention is paid to the education, development, and comfort of its young patients. The institution runs a general education school and holds children's events. Comfortable rooms, play areas, a winter garden in the Atrium, and well-kept grounds all help children and their parents spend their time at the center productively and successfully address their child's health needs.
The center provides the following types of medical care:
• Neurosurgical care for children from the first hours of life
• Ophthalmological care
• Oncological care for children from the first hours of life, including surgery for tumors of various locations and oncological orthopedics; organ-preserving operations using plasma surgery, thermal ablation, and water-jet surgery
• Neurological care for children of all ages (diagnosis and treatment of drug-resistant forms of epilepsy)
• Maxillofacial surgery
• Surgical treatment of severe spinal deformities (congenital, acquired, and those associated with inflammatory and/or tumor lesions)
• High-tech surgical care for children with genitourinary system defects.
