Pursanov Manolis Georgievich

In 1988, he graduated from the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University with a degree in General Medicine.

1988–1990 – Residency in Cardiovascular Surgery at the A.N. Bakulev National Medical Research Center for Cardiovascular Surgery, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation;

1990–1993 – Postgraduate studies in Cardiovascular Surgery at the A.N. Bakulev National Medical Research Center for Cardiovascular Surgery, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation; PhD in Medicine since 1993.

M.G. Pursanov actively participated in the development of priority scientific and practical research on "X-ray endovascular diagnostics and treatment of heart and vascular diseases." The research included endovascular treatments for septal defects and patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) using specialized occluders, endovascular interventions in critically ill newborns and infants, and modern hybrid treatments for complex congenital heart defects (CHDs). He is a pioneer in the development of 3D rotational angiography for congenital heart defects.

2006 – Honorary Diploma of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.

2013 – Academician A.N. Bakulev Prize and Medal "For significant personal contribution to the development of endovascular diagnostic and treatment methods in newborns and infants."

2015 – Russian Federation Government Prize in Science and Technology for 2014 for "Development and implementation in the Russian Federation of innovative technologies for the treatment of newborns and children with congenital heart defects." 2016 – Academician V.I. Burakovsky Prize and Medal "For the country's first manual for physicians – "Pediatric Cardiac Surgery."

2020 – Commendation from the Moscow City Health Department.

From 1993 to 2015, he worked at the A.N. Bakulev Scientific Center for Cardiovascular Surgery. He rose through the ranks from junior to chief researcher in the Department of X-ray Surgical Methods for the Examination and Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases at the A.N. Bakulev National Medical Research Center for Cardiovascular Surgery, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. From 2015 to 2018, he served as Head of the Department of X-ray Surgical and Intraoperative Methods for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases at the A.N. Bakulev National Medical Research Center for Cardiovascular Surgery, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

Since 2018, he has worked in the Department of Emergency Cardiac Surgery and Interventional Cardiology at the Morozov Children's City Clinical Hospital. Doctor of Medical Sciences. Subject: "Transluminal Balloon Angioplasty and Stenting for Obstructive Pulmonary Artery Disease in Patients with Congenital Heart Defects." Two PhD theses were completed under the supervision of M.G. Pursanov.

2003–2018 – Professor, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Faculty of Postgraduate Education No. 2, Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.

One of Russia's leading specialists in endovascular surgery. He is an expert in the treatment of complex congenital heart defects, including those in critically ill newborns and infants. He is a pioneer in the development of 3D rotational angiography for congenital heart defects.

He has developed and implemented into clinical practice various aspects of balloon angioplasty and stenting in children with congenital heart disease. Dr. M.G. Pursanov has implanted 691 stents in 614 patients aged 6 hours to 36 years and annually performs over 200 closures of atrial and ventricular septal defects, as well as patent ductus arteriosus, using various occluders and coils.

Over 600 scientific papers have been published in national and international journals, as well as in the proceedings of scientific conferences, symposia, and congresses on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, including co-authoring chapters in five monographs.

Papers are presented annually at All-Russian Congresses of Cardiovascular Surgeons, scientific sessions, regional conferences, symposia on the diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, and various international congresses.
