In 1982 he graduated from the N.I. Pirogov Second Moscow State Medical Institute (Order of Lenin), specialty “Pediatrics”.
1982–1984 — clinical residency in pediatric otorhinolaryngology at the ENT department of F.E. Dzerzhinsky Children’s City Clinical Hospital No. 9, Moscow
1985–1987 — postgraduate (PhD) student at the Moscow Research Institute of Ear, Throat and Nose, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation
In 1989 he defended a thesis for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences on the topic “Recurrent adenoids and adenoiditis in children”.
In 2009 he defended a thesis for the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences on the topic “Chronic suppurative otitis media in children: current concepts of pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and prevention”.
