Nephrosclerosis is characterized by the hardening of kidney tissue, which is gradually replaced by dense connective scar tissue leading to reduced kidney function. Ultrasound imaging reveals reduced kidney size and tissue thinning, as well as glomerular filtration, which is the primary indicator of reduced kidney function. Treatment aims to slow disease progression. Key measures include blood pressure control using kidney-protective medications, anemia treatment, and a reduced salt diet and, when necessary, less protein consumption.
