Balloon angioplasty and/or implantation of 1 to 3 stents using intravascular imaging and/or coronary artery hemodynamic assessment is a procedure to open blocked blood vessels using balloons and stents under ultrasound guidance. During the intervention, miniature instruments are inserted through a puncture in the artery, and a small balloon is positioned and inflated within the vessel narrowing. Then, one or more stents are placed to provide reliable support for the vessel wall. The intravascular imaging method allows to see the inside of the vessel in high resolution and assess the narrowing. The surgery may be performed for coronary artery disease, angina pectoris, and critical coronary stenosis. As a result, the blood supply to the heart muscle is restored, pain and shortness of breath disappear, and the risk of heart attack is significantly reduced.
