Asadov Ruslan Nizamievich

Has been working as a pediatric neurosurgeon since 2004.
In 2020, was awarded the Russian Federation Government Prize in Science and Technology for the development and implementation of a technique for the in utero surgical correction of fetal myelomeningocele, as well as for pregnancy prolongation, delivery management, and a rehabilitation program for children born following such correction.
Holds the "Moscow Doctor" status.

Provides neurosurgical care to patients ranging from birth to 18 years of age. Performs the following surgical procedures: various shunt operations for hydrocephalus; endoscopic procedures for hydrocephalus and brain cysts (including aqueductoplasty, aqueductal stenting, and reconstruction of the foramen of Magendie); excision of congenital spinal and cranial hernias; repair of post-traumatic cranial vault defects; and removal of tumors of the cranial vault and skull base. Also corrects complex congenital and acquired cranial deformities using state-of-the-art techniques. He performs selective dorsal rhizotomies on patients with spastic forms of cerebral palsy and makes extensive use of intraoperative neuromonitoring during these procedures. He has mastered all surgical techniques for treating pediatric epilepsy, including the implantation of intracranial electrodes, focal cortical and lobar resections, callosotomy, temporo-occipito-parietal disconnection, functional hemispherotomy, and others.

In 2002, he graduated with honors from the Russian State Medical University, specializing in General Medicine.
In 2004, he completed his residency in pediatric neurosurgery. In 2014, he defended his Candidate of Medical Sciences dissertation.

In 2010 and 2012, he completed an internship at Miami Children’s Hospital (USA). In February–March 2014, he completed an internship at the Bambino Gesù Hospital (Rome, Italy).
