External rhinoplasty is a procedure for changing the shape, size, or proportions of the nose to correct congenital or acquired defects and, if applicable, restore nasal breathing. The procedure is offered for patients who are dissatisfied with the shape of their nose (such as a dorsal hump, asymmetry, or a drooping tip), as well as for those requiring reconstruction after trauma or unsuccessful previous surgeries. Using either closed (endonasal) or open approaches, the surgeon reshapes the bone and cartilage framework to achieve the desired nasal form while also correcting any breathing impairments if needed. The surgery helps to achieve facial harmony and improve breathing.
