Intravitreal injection is a minimally invasive procedure that delivers medication directly to the center of the eye to treat retinal conditions. During the procedure, the doctor performs a microscopic puncture under local anesthesia and injects the medication into the vitreous body using a special syringe. The procedure takes just a few minutes and does not require hospitalization. It is recommended for age‑related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vascular thrombosis. As a result, the patient can stop vision loss and, in some cases, regain lost visual acuity.
