Percutaneous nephrolithotomy is a surgical intervention for removing large kidney stones through a small incision in the flank area, during which the stone is fragmented and extracted. It allows to remove even very large or staghorn stones that cannot be fragmented extracorporeally or removed through the urinary tract. In the postoperative period, a thin drainage tube may remain for several days to ensure urine outflow and monitor healing, however, the recovery is still quick.
