Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT)
Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) is a method for screening cells from embryos for chromosomal abnormalities and genetic disorders prior to uterine transfer.
Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) is a method for screening cells from embryos for chromosomal abnormalities and genetic disorders prior to uterine transfer. This testing is recommended for couples with a family history of genetic disorders and women over the age of 35, as well as cases of multiple IVF failures or recurrent pregnancy loss. During the procedure, the physician collects a few cells from the embryo to perform genetic examination and then select the most viable embryo with a normal set of chromosomes for transfer. The intervention significantly increases the chances of having a healthy pregnancy and giving birth to a healthy child.
